Our Veterinarians

Meet the folks who make it all happen. We see big potential in every moment, & care deeply about what we do every day.

Dr. Jeff Lundgren

Dr. Jeff Lundgren, DVM

Veterinarian

Most kids have no idea what they want to be when they’re six years old, however, this wasn’t the case for Dr. Jeff Lundgren. At that age, he was already bonding with his family pet and making future plans to become a veterinarian. Today, Dr. Jeff has fulfilled his dream and is a veterinarian at River Ridge Pet Clinic, where he’s able to work with animals and help them get healthy and improve the quality of their lives!

A native of Mound, Minnesota, Dr. Jeff attended the University of La Crosse, Wisconsin for his undergraduate degree. While there, he worked summers at a veterinary clinic. He would eventually get accepted into the University of Minnesota Veterinary School, and followed that up by landing his first job at Village Animal Hospital. His next stop would find him at River Ridge Pet Clinic, a place he’s called home for the past 10 years.

There are several aspects of being a veterinarian that Dr. Jeff enjoys, but nothing brings him more joy than helping sick or injured animals heal and live a better life. He also finds the internal medicine and surgery portions to be fascinating parts of the job.

Dr. Jeff and his wife, Jen, have two sons, Ryan and Connor, along with a golden retriever named Millie. In his free time, he enjoys attending his children’s sporting events, fishing and watching his favorite sports teams (Minnesota Vikings, Minnesota Twins and Minnesota Gophers) on TV. Lately, he’s also picked up a new passion/hobby – clay shooting!

Dr. Jen Herzog

Dr. Jen Herzog, DVM

Veterinarian

Dr. Jen has always enjoyed helping others – especially those of the four-legged and furry variety. As a young child, she once spent hours out in the snow trying to coax a stray dog that had evaded animal control to come in out of the cold. After much patience and persistence, she became the family’s first dog. As Dr. Jen grew older, her interest in medicine and science, coupled with a deep appreciation for the human-animal bond, made a career as a veterinarian a natural choice.

Having grown up in the Twin Cities, Dr. Jen decided to spread her wings a bit and attend college in Ames, IA, where she completed both her undergraduate and veterinary school training at Iowa State University. Clinically, she enjoys the challenge of internal medicine and the puzzle-solving required to figure out what is making a pet sick. She also has a special interest in surgery and the dramatic recovery that can be achieved by simply removing a foreign object that a pet has eaten or closing up a wound.

During Covid, Dr. Jen took some time off to help her children with distance learning. Once the dust settled and things began to return to normal, she was eager to return to full time veterinary care once again, and when presented with the opportunity to join the River Ridge team, she jumped at the chance.

At home, Dr. Jen lives with her husband and their two sons. The family dog, Kermit, recently suffered a neck injury, but is back to making new friends on every walk he goes on. In her spare time, Dr. Jen loves to travel, work out, read, attend concerts and sporting events, and make memories with her family. She and her husband will soon be crossing an item off their bucket list with a trip to Ireland to celebrate their wedding anniversary.
