Thanksgiving is just around the corner! We would definitely put our canine pals pretty high on the list of things that we are thankful for. Of course, Fido does have a tendency to get underfoot sometimes. You’ll want to keep a close eye on your pup during the holidays, to keep him safe and out of mischief. Tired Dogs Are Good Dogs

Are you hosting this year’s dinner? Tire your canine pal out with a vigorous walk and play session before your guests arrive. Fido will be calmer and better behaved after he’s burned off his zoomies!

Best Paw Forward

Before the big day, give your pup a good brushing and, if he needs one, a bath. We’d also recommend dusting and vacuuming thoroughly and changing your air filters.

Offer Safe Foods

Food is one of the biggest holiday pet safety concerns. Fido doesn’t know what is and isn’t safe for him, and he’ll be more than happy to sample everything. Be very careful with what you offer your furry friend! Some plain, cooked meat, fish, or poultry, without the skin, bones, or fat is fine. Your pup can also enjoy certain veggies, such as cooked sweet potato, squash or pumpkin; peas; and carrots. Just don’t give him anything that’s been topped with rich or fatty foods, like cheese. Avoid giving him unsafe foods, such as garlic and onions, meat on the bone, avocado, chocolate, alcohol, and raw dough. Ask your vet for specific advice.

Don’t Overlook Petproofing

Our canine companions like to investigate things by trying to eat or chew them. This is quite dangerous! Keep that in mind when decorating. Put small or sharp objects, candles, and other potential hazards out of paws’ reach.

Guests

Having company? Ask them not to feed or discipline your pooch without asking. If Fido has any quirks, phobias, allergies, or medical conditions, let them know about that as well.
